A retreat sounds lovely but what does it really do for my wellbeing?

Is a retreat a luxury, or a necessity

When my energy is low, I tend to push harder to get things done. It feels as if everything suddenly piles up and there's no time to pause. But, in the rare moments that tiredness wins out and I rest, I can return to other things with more patience and energy.

The overwhelm lifts when you take a step back.

What if once a month we committed to making time for ourselves instead of getting everything done for everyone else?

Why should I go on a retreat?

It's as if when you are tired, there is so much more to do; never-ending jobs and not enough time to do them. What if you committed to time dedicated entirely to your wellbeing; your rest, your enjoyment, and your needs?

At home, resting feels counterproductive. You are physically in the midst of all that you take responsibility for and there is always more to do.

By going on a retreat you remove yourself from distractions, pressures, and expectations. Like going on holiday; people know you are not around to ask.

A holiday comes with intention to take time off and relax, a retreat is much the same but with the added benefit that someone else has got it all taken care of for you.

Reserving mental energy

We make so many decisions every day; as monotonous as what to wear, what time to go somewhere, what to have for lunch, when to have lunch as well as much bigger thought processes.

With a retreat your only decision is to book. From this moment on, I have got everything planned for you. I'll tell you where you need to be and when, all activities will be created with your greatest comfort and relaxation in mind, food will appear in front of you and the washing up isn't for you to do.

Imagine a day, or even a few hours in which all you need to do is breathe.

With everything taken care of, your mind has a rare chance to truly unwind. And your body takes a sigh of relief and settles into a state of rest and relaxation.

You emerge feeling patient, inspired and connected to who you really are. Rest makes us all feel our best.
